When an industry leader passes it’s a time to pause and remember. Bob Nunes was truly one of the great ones. He quietly left our physical presence last week.
Bob, along with his brother Tom, founded The Nunes Company in Salinas, CA. An industry pioneer, Bob helped build The Nunes Company into one of the most respected companies in the business. All of us can look back and see evidence of his groundbreaking work and thought leadership.
Who can forget the marketing genius behind the Foxy brand? I see this label almost everywhere I go. I also remember the innovation and thinking about using iconic spokespeople for the brand and the industry. Who can ever forget when Brooke Shields or Paul Newman or Dr. Dean Edell came onto the scene, promoting a message of health and nutrition for a national audience?
It is always difficult when an industry leader such as Bob passes. But the company and his legacy are in good hands with the current leadership. The continuation of Bob Nunes’ vision lives strong within The Nunes Company and will carry on for years to come.
Rest in peace, Bob. Condolences to your family and friends, and thank you for all you did for the produce industry.
